Martha Stewart Shines at Netflix Documentary Premiere “Martha”

At the premiere on Monday, Oct. 21, held at New York City’s Paris Theater, Martha Stewart stole the spotlight. She arrived on the red carpet wearing a lilac sweater adorned with a silver zipper, oversized pockets, and paired it with silver metallic trousers. She completed her look with bronze platform heels and a silver Rimowa cross-body bag featuring tan leather straps.

Stewart kept her jewelry minimal, opting for gold mini hoop earrings and a sparkling tennis necklace. Her signature blonde bob remained untouched, and she chose a natural, glowing makeup look.

Martha offers a deep dive into Stewart’s journey, starting as a teen model to becoming the first self-made female billionaire in the United States. “I’m strict, demanding, and all those good things that make a successful person,” she confidently says in the documentary’s trailer.

The film reveals several intimate details, including her infidelity during her marriage to Andy Stewart. Despite her own affair, Martha speaks candidly about her ex-husband’s unfaithfulness. “If your husband starts cheating on you, he’s a piece of s—,” she advises in the documentary. “Get out of that marriage.”

When asked by a producer about her own affair, Martha replies, “Yeah, but I don’t think Andy ever knew about that.”

Martha and Andy Stewart were married in 1961 and had their daughter, Alexis, in 1965. They remained married for almost 30 years before divorcing in 1990.

The documentary also touches on her time in federal prison. Stewart spent five months in 2004 after being convicted of charges, including conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to a stock sale. Reflecting on her imprisonment, Stewart says, “I was a trophy for these idiots. They dragged me into solitary with no food or water. Those prosecutors should’ve been tossed in a Cuisinart.”

Despite the challenges, Stewart’s resilience shines through. The film highlights her impressive comeback after prison. “The cookie-cutter life was never for me,” she admits. “I could have ended up as a miserable, has-been housewife, but I refused to let that happen. And I’m so glad I didn’t.”

Martha will officially be available on Netflix starting Wednesday, Oct. 30.
