Rod Stewart Forced to Cancel Milestone Las Vegas Show Due to Strep Throat

Rod Stewart, the iconic British singer, had to cancel a significant performance due to a health issue. The 79-year-old artist was set to celebrate his 200th show at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas on August 7, marking a milestone in his 13-year residency. However, he was forced to pull out of the event after contracting strep throat.

Stewart expressed his disappointment and regret in an Instagram post, stating, “I’m absolutely gutted. Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused.” The singer had been eagerly anticipating the performance, making the cancellation even more disheartening for him.

The canceled show was meant to be the final performance of Stewart’s highly acclaimed residency, titled “The Hits,” which began in August 2011. Despite the setback, Stewart had some positive news for his fans. He announced that his residency would return for an encore in 2025, giving fans another chance to see him perform.

In the days leading up to what was supposed to be his final show, Stewart made an appearance at The Barbershop Cuts & Cocktails in The Cosmopolitan, where he surprised attendees with an a cappella performance of several of his hits.

In a recent interview, Stewart acknowledged that at 79, he is aware of his mortality, but he is determined to keep enjoying life and performing. He will continue his tour with a performance in Stateline, Nevada, on August 9, and will also be playing several shows in Europe before returning to Las Vegas for his residency next year.
