Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Is Off Suicide Watch and Has Family Visits in Prison: Sources (Exclusive)
A lawyer representing the music mogul confirmed to PEOPLE that Combs is “focused and very strong” as he awaits trial at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is no longer under suicide watch and has had visits from family members while he awaits trial in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center, sources inform PEOPLE.
According to a law enforcement insider, the 54-year-old music mogul—charged with sex trafficking, racketeering, and transportation to engage in prostitution following his arrest on September 16—has been removed from suicide watch.
The source also indicated that Combs has been able to spend time with family during his stay at the detention center, where he remains in custody ahead of his court appearance scheduled for early October.
“He is focused and very strong,” Combs’ lawyer stated to PEOPLE. “He is concentrating on his defense and preparing for his trial.”
Earlier this month, sources reported that Combs had been placed on suicide watch as a precaution following his arrest, as he was in a state of shock and his mental health was uncertain. At that point, it was unclear whether he was suicidal or how long he had been monitored in that capacity.
The U.S. Department of Justice’s National Institute of Corrections defines suicide watch as “supervisory precautions taken for suicidal inmates that require frequent observation.”
On September 24, sources revealed that Combs and the disgraced FTX founder, Sam Bankman-Fried, are being housed in the same area of the Brooklyn detention facility, which accommodates approximately 1,600 inmates. The facility has previously been characterized as dangerous and understaffed.
Combs’ indictment centers around accusations that he coerced victims into participating in “freak offs,” described by prosecutors as “elaborate and produced sex performances” orchestrated by the mogul. Combs has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
According to the indictment, women were reportedly forced or pressured to engage with male sex workers, sometimes over several days. Combs is alleged to have used his influence, along with substances like cocaine, ketamine, and oxycodone, to intimidate them into participating. Additionally, some of the “freak offs” were reportedly recorded without the victims’ consent. The indictment notes that federal investigators seized three AR-15 rifles, along with 1,000 bottles of baby oil and lubricant, during raids on Combs’ properties in Los Angeles and Miami back in March.

Following his arrest, Combs’ legal team proposed a $50 million bail package, which was denied by a judge and upheld on appeal. In a recent interview with TMZ, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, shared that the founder of Bad Boy Records is eager to testify at his upcoming federal trial and “is very eager to tell his story.”
