SZA Makes Desperate Plea To Find Her Soulmate: ‘Choke Me In Love Please!’
SZA is yearning for a love that consumes her completely – one that overwhelms her thoughts, breath, and very existence.
On August 1st, the superstar singer took to X to express her deep desire to be engulfed by love, stating that she wants to be “choked” in it.
“I wanna be loved so madly I can’t think, I can’t breathe, I can’t BE,” she passionately wrote. “I WANNA BE TRAPPED IN THE EVER DOWNWARD SPIRAL OF HYSTERIA THAT IS LOVE. I WANNA DROWN AND SUFFOCATE IN ITTTT AAAAHHHHHHHHH CHOKE ME IN LOVE PLEASE!!!”
This isn’t the first time SZA has opened up about her challenges with love. Recently, she revealed that while she can attract men, keeping them interested is a different story. During an episode of Chicken Shop Date, host Amanda Dimoldenberg mentioned her difficulty in securing second dates, to which SZA resonated, sharing that men lose interest after realizing she’s “weird.”
“I feel like I can catch ’em, but I cannot keep ’em,” SZA admitted. “They get with me and they realize I’m fucking weird, and then it’s just like, ‘Aight.’”
She went on to explain that while her outward appearance may seem “normal,” her interests are anything but conventional. “On the outside, like, I wanna shake ass and do all the normal things. But I also wanna just, like… I wanna swim in the swamp and I wanna, like, collect methane gas with my man. That’s my type of shit.”
SZA also reflected on her past engagement, revealing that her music career initially stemmed from a desire to prove something to her then-fiancé. In an interview with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe, she confessed that her drive to create music was fueled by a need to assert her own value in a relationship where she felt inferior.
“When I started making music, it was to my ex-fiancé because he was paying for everything – my food, my clothes, where I lived. And he was like eight years my senior, so I was so co-dependent. And he was so talented. He’s a designer and so brilliant,” SZA explained.
She continued, “His ex-girlfriends were all lawyers and businesswomen and artists and all these things. And you know, I’m a college dropout and still bartending at the strip club. So I felt like I lacked value. So when I started trying to make music, it was this thing that I didn’t have to try at, and I was randomly good at.”
